Study and Be Eligible for a Research Internship in Tourism & Travel History at the University of Guelph.

The University of Guelph’s Department of History, which is a leading center of tourism and travel history research, with specializations in modern Scottish, Irish, European, and Canadian tourism and travel history, is recruiting promising graduate students in the field. Generous funding is available for eligible students, in addition to enriched, paid internship opportunities for research allied to Professor Kevin James’s project on hotel history, funded by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Insight Development Grant.

We welcome all expressions of interest from students who may wish to participate in this research programme as graduate scholars and pursue research in any related aspect of tourism and travel history.  The University’s Archival and Special Collections have extensive holdings in Scottish tourism ephemera.

In addition to the expertise of members of the Department’s Tourism History Working Group, graduate students have access to the exceptional resources of three research-intensive departments through the Tri-University Program in History.
